It is easy to become overwhelmed these days from all the chaotic noise that is seemingly unavoidable and coming at us nonstop. I would like to share what works for Todd in this regard.
Ever since he was a child, he has always craved being alone, and still, in nature. There was a nature reserve in his neighborhood in Michigan, and every chance he got, he’d be there and up in a tree communing with the nature spirits. This was his sacred and secret place, and he was always grateful that the spirits would let themselves be known to him.
The unseen world became more real and meaningful to Todd than the world that most of us can see with our eyes. It provided him a safe space to stop and connect with God.
Now, he does the very same thing on our farm in Tennessee. All year long he spends hours every day with our cows, each of whom has a very unique personality and with whom he has a unique relationship. And right now, it’s hunting season, so he gets to sit in his tree stands for hours each day, morning and night, and feels very blessed when he is able to observe and connect with deer, bobcats, coyotes and turkeys from his seat in the sky.
Being still and quiet, disconnecting from everything technological, is his way of staying connected with what matters most to him, that which is eternal. The sense of peace it provides him enables him to face the busy-ness of the rest of life.
Our wish for each of you is that you can create space and time to center and ground yourself in stillness and find peace. We each have a duty right now more than ever to rise above the noise and chaos, and bring light and love to our world.
